This is a large shrub. It produces narrow leaves about 15cm long, with a white beneath. The catkins will appear before or with the leaves in spring. They will require cool, moist soil with sun or partial-shade. These frost-hardy plants do best in areas with clearly defined seasons. Prone to attack by caterpillars, aphids and gall mites and canker-causing fungal diseases.
