Elder.
There are about 25 species of perennials, deciduous shrubs and softwood trees. Most of them have pinnate leaves and in late spring and early summer, they will bear large radiating sprays of tiny white or creamy flowers, which are followed by clusters of usually purple-black, blue or red berries. This species produces flowers, fruits and seeds that were used as home remedies and for wine-making. They will thrive in any reasonably well-drained, fertile soil in sun or shade. The folaige color is a rich yellow and the habit is graceful.
