Alnus cordata, 2,4- 2,6 m - Potgrown

Italian alder.
This species of tree will grow vertically, it has a dense foliage with short side branches. The leaves are heart shaped and about 10cm long, they have a rich glossy green above and a lighter green beneath. In late winter or early spring it will produce yellowish male catkins about 9cm long at the branch tips; they are followed by 2.5cm long seed cones. It will adapt well to most situations and soils but does best near water. Partial sun. Growth habit: broad pyramidal conical. Height 11 to 25m, spread 6 to 6,5m.
