Phyllostachys aurea - Pot, 60-100 cm

Fishpole bamboo, Golden bamboo, Gosan-chiku, Hotei-chiku.
There are about 80 species of medium and large growing bamboos which are evergreen, the plants have spreading rhizomes. The leaves are lance shaped with cross veins that give a tessellated appearance. The flowers are produced at varying intervals but are not decorative.
A tall evergreen bamboo from South-east China. They will thrive in a sheltered position that is not too dry. Partial sun. Eventual height 5 to 6m, eventual spread 4 to 5m.
